Selling Points

Central Lancashire Medical School offers Medicine with a Foundation Year (MBBS), which provides applicants who do not meet the entry requirements for the course an alternative route, allowing you to complete a one-year Foundation course before progressing on to the five-year MBBS Medicine programme. You can find out more about the course here.

Interview Information

Central Lancashire Medical School uses the Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) format for its interview.

This will include eight individual activities/stations but no further details have been provided at this stage. However, previously Central Lancashire have advised that you prepare by looking at the 'skills and attributes of a doctor from websites such as the General Medical Council' and ensure you're aware of current medical news and ethical issues within healthcare.

For 2024 entry, the interview will take place between December 2023 and April 2024. You can find more information about the MMI process in Central Lancashire Medical School’s applicant guide.

Admissions Exam

Most UK medical schools require you to pass an admissions exam before you’ll be invited for interview.

Admissions exam for Central Lancashire: University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT)

The UCAT aims to assess the characteristics, attitudes and professional behaviours required for medical school. The exam includes 5 subtests: Abstract Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning, Situational Judgement (SJT) and Verbal Reasoning.

The threshold score for Central Lancashire University will be set based on the scores of those applying in each cycle, so won’t be known until after the exam. Therefore, it’s important to achieve the best possible score you can.

The free Medibuddy adaptive UCAT question bank makes it easy to prepare well for the exam. Using our artificial intelligence algorithm, questions are selected for you individually, based on your strengths and weaknesses within the syllabus, so you can focus on the areas which you need to improve.

You can also easily see which sections of the syllabus you’ve “mastered” and which you need to work on more, using the question bank dashboard.

As you can see, you’re given your calculated skill level, response time, total number of questions answered and the number of questions answered correctly, for each section of the UCAT.
