Welsh speaking students can study an optional ‘Doctor as Professional’ unit each year. The unit may also mean you’ll be eligible for internal scholarships or financial support through Coleg Cymraeg.
For students who don’t speak Welsh, there are optional ‘Welsh for Medicine’ courses, which will support you to develop basic Welsh language skills, particularly aimed towards working in healthcare settings.
Within your final year, you’ll undertake a five-week elective, in the form of a clinical placement of your choice, which can be taken overseas.

Swansea Med School require applicants to sit the GAMSAT or UCAT exam.
For 2025 entry, you must achieve a minimum score of 50 overall and 50 in Paper 3 in the GAMSAT, or a minimum overall score of 2250 in the UCAT.
